Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD) is neuro-developmental, meaning it is something you are born with it. There is nothing wrong with having ADD/ADHD, but it does mean you may process information in a different way than most others. For some, having ADD/ADHD can be like a superpower, once you understand it.

There are three subtypes of ADHD:

  • inattentive type (ADD)
  • hyperactive-impulsive type (ADHD)
  • combined type (ADD & ADHD)

All of these involve difficulty paying attention and staying focused at some level, but it looks different for each person based on their own unique patterns of strengths and needs.

Understanding if your symptoms are linked to ADD/ADHD is the first step. The next step is better understanding your ADHD brain style, along with your own unique cognitive patterns.

A comprehensive evaluation can provide valuable information that helps to improve functioning and overall well-being.  Treatment options may include medication management for symptoms. For many of our families, they appreciate understanding all of their options, including non-medication treatments.

Because ADHD is a disorder of regulation of thoughts, behavior, and feelings, our assessment is not limited to tests and measures of concentration and focus only. We also assess general emotional functioning,  academic functioning, and executive functioning.

From there, we can determine the next best steps to help you and/or your child thrive.

ADHD Assessments Include:

  • Intelligence (IQ) testing
  • Academic testing, if applicable
  • Executive functioning
  • Behavior analysis/teacher and parent surveys
  • Computerized attention assessment
  • Memory and processing speed screenings
  • Written report with suggestions for intervention
